Lawrence Marañon’s review published on Letterboxd:
Wow, this film was surprisingly really good! I did not at all expect like this film so much. I like how it was light-hearted like a sitcom, but was still able to tackle relevant and sensitive issues like it was a heavy drama.
The film managed to balance both its comedic and dramatic aspects with intelligent writing, great storytelling, amazing performances, eye-catching cinematography, and excellent sound design. I was truly blown away by this film, considering this was a low-budget directorial debut.
The greatest aspects of the film would have to be its characters and its character development. The main protagonists felt so real and relatable, that they come out as this modern and fresh buddy-cop tandem, except that they're normal people instead of cops. Their chemistry felt so pure and realistic, that it powered the entire film.
Overall, Blindspotting is this year's surprise entry. It's combined simplicity, relevance, and enjoyability is incomparable. This is undoubtedly one of 2018's best!
