Some thoughts on what seems to be a consensus with people who are overly critical of this film:
I’ve seen plenty of reviews bring up the “redundant” editing or “over the top” score as technical/structural issues. “It doesn’t go anywhere,” has also been a common complaint. Save for a few exceptions (and I read LOTS of takes on this film), to me, the root of these arguments is contradictory to BEAUTIFUL BOY’s very theme.
