A wondrous, beautifully animated epic.
Wonder Woman 1984 is undoubtedly a mess narratively. The editing is all over the place, and a lot of scenes just sort of happen without much cohesion. It probably has the most egregious continuity errors I’ve seen in a superhero movie in a long time. It’s overlong, boring, and pretty damn stupid. Luckily, I still kinda had fun regardless, and its core themes are somewhat interesting. There are some cool scenes in here for comic fans too. Also Kristen…
Clockwork has a plethora of twisted messages, and it’s definitely not for everyone. Whenever I watch it, I admittedly do question the self-assured auteur’s handling of its core mature themes; yet its screenplay remains undeniably electric. It was the first Kubrick film I had the pleasure of watching, and it somehow manages to keep this insane futuristic slang relevant throughout. McDowell’s performance is also great.
Singin’ in the Rain definitely got strange after this.
