A childhood favorite that I appreciate just as much—if not more— as an adult. Better than the typical coming of age films of its era that feel moralizing or broad, Kiki’s Delivery Service is about autonomy, the realities of navigating capitalism, and the very real loneliness attending that experience. Also really enjoyed watching the Japanese version with subtitles for the first time. A beautiful film I would recommend to anyone.
