A really fascinating movie in and of itself, but also to have watched during a global pandemic. The naive old couple’s nostalgia for wartime austerity and their blind allegiance to the govt rings true here in the US when faced with an existential threat. There is scapegoating, confusion, chaos, exceptionalism, toxic positivity and most of all, a denial that reality has profoundly changed. Really cool animation style and soundtrack. So weird that it’s seemingly an animation for kids.
