My first movie in a theater since Gretel & Hansel on February 1st! When I saw my local independently-owned theater was showing it uncut, I had to go see it. This is an excellent bit of mind-fuckery from Brandon Cronenberg! He's definitely mining a similar vein of cerebral techno/body horror that his father mined in the '80s, but with a reinvigorated sense of style. Even some of the design aesthetic paid homage to the elder Cronenberg, like the helmet thing used to link minds looked like an updated version of a similar helmet device from Videodrome. I won't say any more because the less known going into this one, the better. Suffice to say, there are some genuine shocks and a unique nastiness to this movie. More Cronenberg, please!
