The weird thing is that I didn't really understand the plot, but I liked the movie anyways. Aside from the creepy and awkward romance. I wasn't quite fond of how they portrayed the one female in the movie. But aside from that, the plot was gripping and fun.
My thoughts toward this movie kept changing as it went on. It came back around and I ended up loving it, but I can't quite bring myself to go above four stars for a few reasons.
The beginning is so slow and makes no sense at all. I think it tried for the whole "let's leave some loose ends and make it a mystery, and then tie it up later", but you didn't really know what those loose ends were…
There was no story. At all. It was 1.5 hours of nothing.

People just do things until a bear shows up, and then nothing happens and they win. No character arc, no plot progression because there was no plot! It was just people spewing their traumatic backstories in really bad accents until the movie ended. That's it.

It's not by any means a great horror classic, but it ranks pretty high on my horror comedy list. Plus, the main character is named Cole, and McG was born in Kalamazoo, where I was born, so I think that's pretty neat.
One thing I forgot to mention earlier is the amazing little visual gags. The whole "Pocket knife... bitch" thing was really funny to me
