"Come on, let's get some tacos."
This is some seriously corny stuff, every earnestly ostentatious second of it. Stone insists on Morrison as the warrior-shaman, in love with death in order to transcend it and ultimately failed by history, while Kilmer -- totally transformed, maybe or maybe not in on some private joke, incredible either way -- and the movie both play him as an insufferable shitbag, a malevolent narcissist who destroys every available relationship on his path to self-immolation. And yet I adore this as a Stone shotgun blast and for constant absurd kicks like Morrison popping amyls and getting blown by Nico or, hey, there's Michael Madsen as Tom Baker. A miraculous piece of self-indulgence.
