“Is this based on a true story?” - my h*gh roommate.
I remember watching the trailer for this back in 2013 and thinking this looked interesting. I always love me some Jesse Eisenberg and Dave Franco. Then it came out and blew up.
It goes without saying this was a cool movie. Magic heists was something I didn’t know I needed. I haven’t seen this since it came out and I definitely pointed out some things that got me questioning the movie’s legitimacy.
The big twist at the end kinda negates some scenes and watching it knowing what was going to happen just made me think about why this movie decided to portray them the way they did. And I couldn’t come up with a legitimate reason.
Also, the main cast didn’t have the chemistry I remember them having. Maybe it was from the second one, but they definitely just kinda seemed irritated with each other the whole time and I didn’t see much character growth.
At the end of the day, this movie is pretty badass when it comes to heist films. I know I kinda tore it apart, but that was because i was self conscious because this was my pick for movie night. Recommend if you haven’t seen it, but the rewatchability kinda suffers.
