faves are previous month’s best films
film 8/52 of the criterion challenge 2021
i’m confused by barry lyndon: i usually hate war movies but ryan o’neal was so useless as a soldier that this part was funnier than anything. i hate the bourgeoisie but barry shows us that it’s all a fallacy.
kubrick is multi-dimensional in every sense of the word. i haven’t seen all of his films yet, but each that i have seen is a completely unique universe with different skills used each time. from 2001 to barry lyndon, it’s an unexpected journey but a very enjoyable one indeed
nomadland made me laugh and it made me cry, treasuring the moments i’ve had with friends and family near and far and keeping in mind that i’ll see them down the road...
i’ve moved around a lot in the last five years and even in that short amount of tineifeel somewhat like a nomad, even if i’m not sleeping in an rv. it’s a special thing to have friends all over the world, even when it’s hard to say goodbye …
film 5/52 of the criterion challenge 2021
5: released on laserdisc
i've known the story of 2001: a space odyssey for ages, had to read the book in ninth grade english class and we watched snippets of the film, and saw a few more parts at an outdoor film festival a few years ago, but this is really the first time i've seen it in its entirety. can't believe it took me this long, and i already feel like i need to watch it again (but in a theater pleaseeeeee)
