Film #4 of FOR QUEEN AND COUNTRY: A BOND-A-THON

I AM VERY READY FOR BOND AND MONEYPENNY TO GET TOGETHER

Alrighty folks let’s not fuck around here. A lot of this drags terribly so if you found any of the first three slow, good luck here!

However I was very fond of this. Damn good time. I think in it’s best moments it rivals Goldfinger in quality. It’s got the goods! Like a classic eye-patch villain, sharks and a gorgeous Miami locale! Bond also stabs a dude in the eyes and rides around in a jetpack!!!

I’m an absolute sucker for an aquatic/beach setting, you can’t beat it! Not only does it automatically relax me, but you often get to watch attractive people hang out in swimsuits, listen to cool Caribbean rhythms, and see some boats!

Always treasure to be found in a beach movie. In this we get one of the greatest treasures of all which is “Q” in a Hawaiian shirt!

And visually this is most stunning Bond film yet. Was filming underwater really novel at this time or something? Because they really wanted to show off the fact that they could film underwater. Either way, those shots looks wonderful, even if a lot of them seem to go on and on. FUN GAME: See if you can hold your breath while the characters or underwater. OR chug a beer until they come to the surface! Make sure you have a spotter.

BOND GIRL: DOMINO. Cute girl, cool name. Whatever. I really want to talk about Fiona Volpe. Femme fatale, assassin, seductress. She was awesome. I tell ya folks I’d betray my country if she so much as smiled at me.

GADGET: Dinner is almost ready….

THEME SONG: OCTOPUSSY: TOM JONES. I like Tom Jones. In High School I’d walk around the halls listening to “It’s Not Unusual” on repeat making sure to nod rhythmically so that it would look like I was listening to rap. Cool tune.

The boat in this film was named DISCO VOLANTE which is also the name of one of my favourite albums by the great MR BUNGLE. Check it out!
