Not super acquainted with Mendes and his filmography, only having seen Spectre and Skyfall besides this. This one was clearly very personal to him though, and it really showed in the script. Technically masterful (sounding like a broken record I know), but that production design and Deakins' cinematography is well deserving of the praise.
