A flawless masterpiece from one of the greatest directors of our generation. Not a single scene is wasted or drags, every single filmmaking element is faultless. An epic tale of power and greed. Daniel Plainview goated character. What more can I say? This is PTA’s best film and was robbed for best picture in 2007.

This rewatch just further solidified it as my favourite film of all time. A perfect film on every level with three of the most memorable characters in cinematic history. You’ll never forget Blondie, Angel Eyes and Tuco. It also helps that “Ecstasy of Gold” is the best film score ever composed.

Old Hollywood delivers again, sensational motion picture. Excellent script, timeless social commentary and an ending which will make you wanna stand up and applaud. Cary Grant & Katharine Hepburn duo is up there with Bogart & Bacall. Loved it.

    Grant’s acrobatic skills 🤌🏻

PTA films always slap harder on a rewatch. That score is just something else, chaotic and I love it. Also fitting that I decided to rewatch this on Philip Seymour Hoffman’s birthday.

How many times did this Hitchcock don recycle the same film? I swear this is just North by Northwest and The Wrong Man all over again. Guy used the murder genre like a bar of soap. The film is pretty good tbh but it’s funny how many Hitchcock films are similar.

Might be the best psychological horror I’ve ever seen, I was completely engrossed by the atmosphere and the mystery. I thought I knew what was going on and then I didn’t—and then I did and then I changed my mind again. This Polanski fella knew how to direct movies... shame he’s a nonce.

Side note: John Cassavetes is the MAN.
