This film was truly amazing in how it created such as vibrant, vivacious, energetic atmosphere. Viola Davis is spectacular in how commanding and powerful she is. Chadwick Boseman is spectacular in his hotheadedness and chaos. And central to the viewing experience is the astonishing music, which really fantastically almost scores the action of the film's opening, and is omnipresent throughout the rest of the film, alongside dialogue brimming with wit, humour, theatre, and wisdom. Consequently, when the central blaxploitation message comes to a head it hits so hard, and so perfectly.
