This is a movie I've wanted to watch for years, but never got around to, and I'm very glad I finally did. I didn't read the novel the movie is based on, so I'm not really sure how much creative credit to give to the director, but the stop-motion bits were genius and added a fresh layer to the beloved genre that is coming-of-age movies. In the back of my mind I knew the 'dying girl' was going to die, but Greg, our unreliable narrator, told me otherwise and I was foolish to believe him. The movie really packs an emotional punch and the fleeting nature of life has never been more apparent to me than it is right now. Despite the existential crisis, this was a very enjoyable film and a new favorite.
