Daniel Johnson’s review published on Letterboxd:
I didn’t know that this was based off of a play on the way in... I immediately knew that it was based on a stage play about five minutes in. But other than that... this is a really well made film and it really packs a heavy punch near the end. I thought that all of the performances were really fantastic... like literally all of them. I am really going to miss seeing Chadwick Boseman on our screens. He is incredible in this film and I think it is just a really fantastic example of how powerful and full of life that his performances were and will continue to be for so many years to come. I think Chadwick and Viola Davis will get some well deserved and well earned nominations and I straight up believe that they both might just win whatever award they’re up for. I really want to see the play now.
