    The Wages of Fear

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

artful prequel to super mario bros where luigi is blown to the mushroom kingdom by the explosion of a ton of nitroglycerin and mario is the only person who can save him. much like taxi driver, the ending ambiguously suggests that the entire video game series is a dream sequence playing out in the fevered brain of yves montand after his fatal wounding

(serious review: intensely gripping & easily just as good as sorcerer, despite the lack of insane bridge crossings & tangerine dream)

    Murder by Death

funny, if blunt. watched with Shannon (who's a superfan of the band named after this)... she said the only other time she saw it was for a party drinking game where ppl imbibed every time there was racism or ableism, which strikes me as an even quicker way to get alcohol poisoning than trying to keep up with the protagonists' consumption in a thin man film

    Breakfast at Tiffany's

i believe that this remains a must-watch date movie because:

    1) it will clearly indicate how willing your partner is to tolerate blatant problematic content in vintage cinema
    2) you can determine where your potential partner fits on the simp & manic pixie dream scale by discussing your relation to the main characters
    3) CAT
    4) romantic stuff

perhaps self-serving, but imo if said potential partner mentions some variation of "hipster great gatsby genderflip," you've found yourself a winner

oh, style + cinematography goals contained herein, obv
