Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood ★★★★★

Am I late on this? Yes
Am I still surprised I got to see this in theatre? Yes
Am I upset about that? Absolutely not.

So Terentino pulled out another massive success with his 9th film. His directing style is something you can’t really match. Stylized, film stock, a dash of extreme violence, and built upon the foundation of a plot that can easily fall apart in a lesser directors hands.

Leonardo DiCaprio, what have you been doing for the past 3 years? I missed you, I’m glad to see you can still pull off an absolutely stellar performance and make it look easy.

Brad Pitt, great to see you in something worth your talent. You still got it man, not looking a day over 30, exuding that cool 60s Hollywood vibe.

Margot Robbie, looking stunning as ever. Maybe giving your best performance ever.
Ever since I saw you in Wolf of Wall Street what, 6 years ago now, I knew you were an amazing talent and to this day you haven’t disappointed.

This was a strange film, not one I feel that everyone will dig as much as I did, but one that I feel is worth sitting back and letting this modern take on ‘69 Hollywood.

I always love a new western and the fact that this is a western about a western star that takes place in a non western environment is perfect. The setting is amazing there’s no way about it, the plot is amazing, the characters amazing. This film is amazing.

If I had one gripe is that the ending is just kinda, there. It just kinda ends, and I felt like there was gonna be another whole act to go, but just like that I see the end title pop up and it was over. But honestly the more I think about it, the more I can kinda get past that. Cause the thing is the 2:40 runtime was just gone so quick, and that’s a real testament to how good the film really is.

The more I think about it, the more I like it and I think it’ll really flow amazing on a second run. Just gotta hope our man Quentin makes his coveted 10th movie and doesn’t stop here. But if it’s his last, what a way to go.
