Darren Carver-Balsiger’s review published on Letterboxd:
White Snake takes a traditional Chinese story and then expands a whole feature around it. Unfortunately such expansion loses the magic and reduces things to a bland, westernised CG mess. The romance is boring, the plotting is confusing, and the action is tiresome. Yet I was moved by White Snake. It pierced my heart enough that I cared what happened. The beautiful character designs probably helped. White Snake is generic and uninteresting, but somehow involving and hence worthwhile.
