Despite how insanely talented Bo Burnham is for the majority of this special I was still kind of undecided as to whether or not his comedy was for me. I mostly found myself thinking “oh that’s pretty clever” rather than actually laughing.
But then the ending happened...
And I really can’t put my finger on exactly what it was but something about that last Kanye ode re-contextualised the whole special for me in a way that I can’t really explain. I went from seeing Bo as just a stand up comedian to an actual person and I could really just see the sincerity pouring from every facet of every joke. I guess this is how his fans felt for the entire special but this does really make me keen to check out more of his specials.
