I’m honestly feeling mixed emotions right now. On one hand I can see how this B-movie would’ve been totally re-defining within the genre of horror, especially the first and second act which for me fantastically built a suffocating layer of tension within the film. However, the realism of 70s horror that Hooper tried to exploit through Marilyn’s character in the third act actually had an adverse effect on me, as I watched her ear-piercing screams turn from terrifying to insufferable. Overall I really enjoyed this film, but was left almost slightly underwhelmed by its laughable ending.
