Yesterday, I had the pleasure of seeing Stanley Kubrick's magnum opus on the big screen for the first time. The film's brilliance in all areas of film-making means it is a joy to watch on any screen, but the effect of seeing and hearing it magnified certainly doesn't hurt.
No film leaves me feeling the way 2001 does; the wonderment, the bewilderment, the absurdity that this was made 50 years ago and still retains the ability to amaze and confuse. Quite simply, the most awe-inspiring film I've ever seen.
