Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Invasion of the Body Snatchers ★★★

100-word review: Dr. Miles learns his town’s people are replaced by seedpod-grown doppelgängers when falling asleep. By not showing the seedpods accession, and despite its revealing title, Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a remarkably mysterious horror sci-fi for its time. Though it makes for a compellingly tight narrative, the characters are unrealistically quick in processing the new information they uncover, and at drawing farfetched, yet correct proving, conclusions from it. Nonetheless, I’m swayed to say that brilliant, iconic shot of Dr. Miles watching the body-snatchers gather, unveiling the true scale of the invasion, makes up for a lot.
