I misjudged this movie back when I first saw it. The problems with exposition and the dialogue not feeling very natural aswell with some pacing issues are still there, but the atmosphere nolan managed to create and the feel of the time period and the integration of the fantastical element into the movie are all done with care and fit into the whole theme well. Bale and jackman act their asses off, costumes are great, set design is really nice and…

I think this PTA is somewhat underrated. As a great fan of Boogie Nights this feels the closest to that along with some Big Lebowski vibes in that it encaptures the stoner hippie lifestyle. As always this one is gorgeous with some stunning cinematography and everyone performing at the top of their game. Characters are all super interesting but there are so many that I doubt anyone could keep track of them all on first viewing, which could be a…

  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

I think Cuaron's ways of directing are perfectly fitting for this franchise. He gives it a darker spin while upping the magical feeling of the world. Its definitely the best one so far but I just feel like some characters had very little to them and story is kinda weak. I wish Cuaron remained for ones that came after this, but I guess he wouldnt have done Children of men so maybe him just turning this franchise around and giving the helm to Newell and then Yates was the best of both worlds. Emma Watson's acting is comically bad in this one in particular.

  • Foxcatcher

I throughly enjoyed this film, way more so than I expected. Everything about this is more than amazing, the acting, editing, direction and especially cinematography. Those shots of horses, open fields, forests, fog and snow covered enviroments were breathtaking, on the level of only someone like Deakins, instant fan of Fraser for this one. But all of those things together, expertly combined to make for a slow and unnerving deterioration of Mark and du Pont's relationship, make this as great…

  • Dunkirk

    Dunkirk

    ★★★★½

I like the approach with the 'invisible enemy'. We never get to see them but the occasional shots and bombers passing by make sure we are always aware of their presence. Not too much dialogue, which is perfect cause u know Nolan and exposition yada yada. Tom Hardy just making sure we know he is the coolest man alive. The story is a bit meh, but three storylines coliding like that give it that signature Nolan playfulness with time. The…
