Confession: this is the first post-2000s Ferrara film I've seen. Considering the feelings around the globe at this point... fitting.
Somehow simultaneously loose and stilted. Like everyone's just trying to figure out how to even comprehend the ending. How do you come to grips with the failures of those things out of our control, or the finality of an entire species? Tragedy in those who are unable to find solace or connection by the end. A satisfaction in sharing final moments with those closest to you, despite the seemingly insurmountable apocalypse. Nothing can destroy human connection. Beautiful film.
As good as The Last Boy Scout.
