DIREKTIONZ’s review published on Letterboxd:
Rewatched this movie before the Oscars. I hope this movie gets Best Picture. Quentin Tarantino absolutely deserves it.
Instead they will prob reward “1917“ which didn’t grow on me at all. Amazing theater experience (which made me actually even cry), but after sleeping on it I don’t...remember that much except the running scene which is also unintentionally hilarious to me...I will never forget the experience though. (3.5-4/5)
“Little Women” I didn’t watch yet.
“Parasite” won’t win since it’s Korean. No way the academy will reward a Korean movie for Best Picture. It would be great though since it would be the first foreign language film that wins Best Picture. But I don’t think it’s going to happen. I’m not the biggest fan of the Movie anyway. (3,5-4/5)
“Ford v Ferrari” is a movie I fucking hope it won’t win Best Picture (and it won’t thank god). The amount of cliches and cheesy dialogue was really annoying. I don’t know about you, but when I see a scene I don’t want that a kid, watching that scene on the tv in the movie, telling you what he saw in that scene and explaining what it meant. That’s not good exposition! Also how the movie was trying to move me at the end was really weird and the movie didn’t look like the 60s either except the cars. Really disappointed by the movie and after all I honestly *just* liked it. (2.5/5)
“The Irishman” is a Netflix Film. And yes the academy will do it again. They’re going to shut down both Netflix movies. “Marriage Story” and “Irishman”.
Both won’t win. And that’s a shame. “The Irishman” is such a masterpiece and one of Scorsese’s best work. The last hour is cinema. (5/5)
“Marriage Story” like I said won’t win best picture either. Such a fantastic movie, it’s really funny, incredibly well written, has brilliant acting, and a really beautiful ending. The “Being Alive” scene was one of my favorite scenes of the year. (4/5)
“Jojo rabbit” is pretty good and the ending was fantastic. It has it’s weak writing moments and the dialogue in the middle section of the movie was too predictable and simple for me. (3.5/5)
“Joker”..I have a lot issues with that movie. Not going in spoiler territory tho, but a lot scenes are edgy and cringe. It copies other movies. Some scenes do have no meaning and Todd presents it like it does. The talk show scene for example. Some scenes didn’t make sense to me and yea...messy movie. But still incredibly well shot, fantastic production design and good score. Also of course Joaquín Phoenix was great in it and will win an Oscar. (3-3,5/5)
OUATIH should win
