DirkH’s review published on Letterboxd:
There is something extremely disconcerting about the visceral nature of what we can now safely call Cronenberg horror.
The son continues the father's legacy, while keeping a distinct voice of his own.
Possessor is intriguing and definitely not an easy watch. The way Cronenberg blends the rawness of the physical horror with the sheer psychological terror of the protagonists is truly outstanding.
This is the type of film where everything just clicks. Performances are in tune with the oppressive mood, sound design and especially the visuals are all superb, so there is not much to complain about. It could perhaps do with a slight tweak in the pacing as there is a bit of static in the narrative here and there.
But that's a tiny blemish on a truly outstanding outing in the horror genre.
