Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood ★★½

While Tarantino's fictional slice of Hollywood dazzles with its exterior glitz, unfortunately, its interior is bereft and vacuous. With an abundance of driving, feet and fake film snippets that advance nothing; and, whose themes are obvious from the outset, with nothing particularly revelatory (such as, on the replacement of the old Hollywood guard with the new). Admittedly, some of the disappointment is assuaged by moments of high entertainment and strong performances (DiCaprio especially). However, a wasted Robbie flitting in and out with tangentially connected window dressing scenes and a degrading painting of Bruce Lee just to set up Pitt as a hard-ass (that ultimately results in an unearned payoff), all particularly annoy.
