Donald Laitinen’s review published on Letterboxd:
Leopold Dilg (Cary Grant), an escaped prisoner, and Michael Lightcap (Ronald Colman), a stuffy law professor, vie for the hand of Nora Shelley (Jean Arthur), a spirited schoolteacher.
The Talk of the Town blends comedy, romance, and social themes (justice in this case), and while the shift from the more serious, melodramatic plot points of the movie to the more screwball, humourous is a bit awkward at times, the movie is never not entertaining. The script is smart and lively, even though it’s a little far-fetched, resulting in a solid escapist comedy, and Cary Grant and Jean Arthur are both very funny and very charming. Shocking, I know.
