Brooke Kamishlian’s review published on Letterboxd:
Travel Vloggers Claire and Teddy are struggling to maintain their subscribers. Their latest trip is set to turn that around, but the host of their rental seems too willing to do what it takes to get a good review.
Vloggers are hard to make likable, and these two are no exception. The girl, Claire, is about as unlikable as you can get; worried to distraction over her diminishing followers. Teddy, her love sick boyfriend with aims on proposing, is more likable, and feels more sincere as an actual person. But this couple is not the type we want to root for, especially as the movie progresses and it feels more and more that Claire is using Teddy, who is letting himself be her doormat.
Maybe I shouldn't have read so much into the vloggers, because the REAL star of the film is Grace Phipps, who is also known as Gracie or Grace Gillam. She gives a great unhinged performance and is believable in her role. Barbara Crampton rounds out the 4 person cast and brings some horror know-how and genre gravitas to the picture.
The ending is the type that I enjoy, even if the twist is pretty apparent from the start.
