    WATCH IT HERE

a good friend sent me an advance copy of this and I don’t want to be hyperbolic but this is quite possibly the greatest holiday special ever put to record, bar none. Paul Lynde is rolling in his grave and Gene Simmons pisses his sheets at merely the thought of this masterpiece. Would love to learn more about Hamm Manor and the escapades of one Hubie Doo, but I’m more than happy with what we got here.…

    Follow That Bird

    ★★★

    • opens with the Grouch Anthem, which Oscar correctly refers to as the best part of the movie
    • who the hell organized this bird council?
    • it's pretty crazy how many different characters all those original Muppet performers handled. I can't even imagine how long it would take to master controlling one of the puppets, let alone multiple voices and characters.

super different from the first one but I had just as much of a blast. The ending is continues to go just over the top enough for me to be on board. The cut after Moe throws the money at the bill 👌

    Uncut Gems

    ★★★★

Though I didn't love Good Time, it had me excited to see what the Safdie brothers would make next and I'm happy to have my excitement justified by Uncut Gems, which feels like both a continuation and evolution from the aesthetics and escalating intensity of their last film. Sandler leads a whole cast of great performances, the soundtrack was fucking killer (was getting some major Akira vibes during some scenes; Daniel Lopatin, you madman) and now I'm anticipating what these two do next even more than I was the first time.
