    She's the Man

I am very proud of my son and daughter and their distinctive nude dick and tits which I can see clearly from the bleachers. I am hooting and hollering because of this

  • Mud

A smart, nuanced take on its themes with a killer ending and a really cinematic head on its shoulders - that score!!

  • Sweet Home

    Sweet Home

Not a great Kiyoshi Kurosawa, but a hoot nonetheless, packed with gloop and colour and extremely manky character design. A real vintage Melting Man scene for those who celebrate. Switch port for the NES game when? They should at least have hidden it in Resident Evil Village somewhere

  • The Violence of a Civilization without Secrets

The Violence of a Civilization without Secrets

9:1 tell to show ratio but the points being made are fascinating and thorough and the visuals are arresting

  • The Counselor

    The Counselor

A fairly standard crime thriller packed with a load of stuff that absolutely shouldn't be in here, but is maybe all the more interesting because it is? Also just the most horrible thing, so much worse than you even remember, happening to one of the five hottest men alive. Scott maybe be a hack but he's the most accomplished hack we've got.

  • My Favorite Wife

    My Favorite Wife

I like it when comedies take an insane premise, remove essentially all the ugliness and friction, and then just make it about horny people messing with each other.

  • Snake Eyes

    Snake Eyes

Far worse has been done in the name of spinning one incredible shot into a whole movie. Cage hitting all his marks in that first ten minutes really puts the idea that he's not in control of his craft to bed

  • The Collection

    The Collection

Loses most of the unique, fluid energy, keeps up its dedication to No Thoughts Head Empty Saw carnage. Amazing reaction shots of people who don't notice til the last second that the rest of the room has been minced. Probably the most ludicrous opening sequence ever shot, across the two films definitely the most a lead has ever been wounded without dying or even getting less good at fighting. Wish they'd make like five more of these.

  • Shimásání

Loved this - great use of dramatic cinematography to give life-changing conversations appropriate weight and sweep. Would love this see a feature length handling of this story. Unfortunately too short and thematically serious for me to include a customary third sentence gag.

  • White Men Can't Jump

    White Men Can't Jump

Maybe the best shit talking movie ever. Rosie Perez's character is completely inexplicable and also perfect. I'd watch a movie and/or movies about her legendary Jeopardy run. Apparently this is my 2000th Letterboxd review and i think that should help get this into production

  • Dangerous Minds

    Dangerous Minds

Sometimes I log movies because they were on when I was in the room doing something else and I saw enough to know I don't want to watch it properly later. And, well!!

  • Amazing Grace

    Amazing Grace

Objectively the best voice in popular music and she can just launch right into it while sitting down? Jinkies
