haley’s review published on Letterboxd:
id just like to say that from a technical viewpoint this movie is phenomenal, and the performances from the two leads are so captivating. but i also felt that the sex scenes were so theatrical and almost intrusive in a way that was not necessary for furthering the plot. and this is so common in lesbian films because of this outdated idea that lesbian and bisexual women exist only for the pleasure of men- the sex scenes in this movie felt like they almost pandered to that idea. (i know that was probably not the intention of park chan-wook, but it came off that way in my opinion). still, i think i need to rewatch this eventually because some parts of the plot were unclear to me. OVERALL though this was a good movie, there were lots of moments that were so enthralling and gripping, i think i audibly gasped a few times.
