Eamon Willis’s review published on Letterboxd:
I really hate myself for giving this film such a low rating
and I feel like it definitely deserves more
and I will rewatch as soon as possible
but I just didn't enjoy this as much as I hoped I would going into it.
I guess I just expected what I had loved so much from other Bergman films I have seen, which have much more emotion, and dialogue that really gripped me, and had me in awe of the actors ability to play their characters. In my opinion, the acting and dialogue in The Seventh Seal was not as gripping.
I am definitely not saying that this makes The Seventh Seal a bad film, or worse than the other Bergman films I have seen, I am just saying I went into this movie expecting something, and I did not get it.
Now that I know what to expect from this film, hopefully on a rewatch I will enjoy it much more - and I am fairly sure I will.
