    Palm Springs

    ★★★

I think I’ve seen all the time loop movies/shows now? This, Groundhog Day, Happy Death Day (haven’t seen the sequel, that’s ok) and Russian Doll. Sure the others all owe Groundhog Day a big debt, and thinking about it maybe Palm Springs does the most, but they all do have something a little different going on. Russian Doll is probably my favourite, maybe being a series helps build it to something more. I’d recommend Russian Doll over this yeah.

    Fahrenheit 451

    ★½

All the bits they added to make it more ‘modern’ made no sense at all. The first thing you see them set on fire is computers, which I very much doubt burn at Fahrenheit 451.

    impenetrable.

I enjoyed the stuff at the farmhouse. The dinner was exquisitely uncomfortable.

I don’t think I’d like Charlie Kaufman if I ever met him. This felt like he was sat in a tall chair looking down at me, smoking a cigarette and writing a snarky beat poem about Hollywood and movies from the past couple of decades. The Robert Zemeckis dig was so jarring and unnecessary.
But maybe it wasn’t about this? Maybe it wasn’t about this at all? I have absolutely no idea what this is.

I’m a sucker for YA movies.

This is definitely pants - I remember it being pants first time I watched it years ago and it’s still pants now. But it’s also still pretty fun.

Dauntless are great. There’s a lot of short shots early on of them running down the street and whooping and cheering. I’d like the to see a longer shot following them on one of these whooping and cheering runs for the whole length of their journey…
