Sound of Metal

Sound of Metal ★★★★½

I remember in film school that we were always told that sound design would make or break our films. This movie is MADE by its sound design.

It’s yet another simple story that is made complex in its presentation. Darius Marder uses intentional sound design to put you into the protagonist’s head. This is also aided by Riz Ahmed’s best performance to date. I fell in love with Ahmed first in Four Lions and he’s truly done me no wrong since. But I really think he’s at full force in Sound of Metal.

A deep, deep character leads on us such a frustrating journey about being comfortable in ones own skin.

This one is gonna stay with me for a while
