    Borat Subsequent Moviefilm

    ★★★

Thankfully not the total disaster that the trailer made it look like. I was actually surprised that any film with these antics would work this much later after the first film. There's some quite heartwarming elements giving the character relationship between Borat and his daughter, who as an actress is just as game to participate and at many points steals the show with utmost enthusiasm. Of course the usual variety of outrageous antics throughout, and a capturing of expressions and…

    Body Double

    ★★★½

Body Double is De Palma at his most outrageous. In the same vein as his gonzo thrillers, Dressed to Kill and Sisters, De Palma goes back to the thriller well, with this hilarious meta-noir-sexual thriller, if you enjoyed those two, you'll probably enjoy this too. Whiplash

    ★★★★½

Whiplash is less of a story about drums and more a story about teaching, drive, and the separation between a hobby and a passion.

J.K. Simmons is like a meaner, angrier, foul-mouthed J. Nightcrawler

    ★★★★

Fantastic! Jake puts on a powerhouse performance that should have been more recognized at the awards ceremonies. The movie as a whole is amazing, equally creepy and thrilling but also a genuine story about finding what you love to do. The soundtrack wavers from sweet to terrifyingly creepy and it's shot so spectacularly, just man. It's only March, but this is probably going to be a front runner for one of my favorite movies that I watch this year.
