Tess

Tess ★★★½

This film has a texture to it, almost as fine as Barry Lyndon's. Both are cinematic paintings brought to life, that exist as more than simply, just films.

The cinematography is nigh on spectacular, and certainly one of the very best I've seen in that regard. Certainly from Polanski, who usually has visually superb films, this may be the cream of the crop.

Thematically... hmm, I'm gonna have to watch it again for that.
