I got too attached.
Like a lot of Gunn projects, and much like the man himself, The Suicide Squad is messy. It’s a little long, the pacing’s off, the editing is weird, some of the musical choices are odd, and the humor doesn’t always land. This is strange because most of these are things Gunn typically excels at.
However, The Suicide Squad is an excellently directed, visually stunning film bursting with heart, that fills its duties as a great action…

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings is more than a little messy and it won’t leave you pondering the depth of its themes but it’s a really well-directed insanely good time with a talented cast and crew blending the superhero genre tropes with those of traditional martial arts films and some almost Shonen-style material at the end to create this really great blend that feels very distinct from the usual Marvel fair.
