I'm such a sucker for Judd Apatow. I can't even defend it. The King of Staten Island is obviously far away from being perfect.
It's definitely too long, the pace is weird, sometimes moving so fast and others just stuck in the same place. There's not nearly enough of Maude Apatow in the movie (actually she has criminally way too little screen time). The protagonist is a pathetic, spoiled man-baby, that I would probably hate in any other scenario.
And yet, I loved every single minute of it, every single performance and every single joke. This movie brought me huge amount of joy and relief.
