This played in the Midnight section at Sundance 2001, my second year there, but I didn't see it. Based on my experience with Sundance comedies up to that point, I didn't think it was likely to be good, so I skipped it. My reasoning was sound, but obviously I was wrong.
Denzel costars with reptilian Styrofoam Rami Malek and uncured ham Jared Leto in a vaguely watchable crime thriller about a disgraced cop (Denzel) joining a hot shot detective (Malek) to pursue a serial killer (no spoilers, but come on). The movie suffers from the primary thing that America suffers from: it's not as clever as it thinks it is.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that in this movie the villain tells the hero "We're not that different," which means this movie was made at least 40 years ago, before that line had become an impossibly cheesy cliche that no serious person would include in their movie.
