BlacKkKlansman

BlacKkKlansman

I'm torn on this one. I think it steps in shit too many times (that late scene with everyone in the restaurant nearly derails the whole film with its "the system works!" wish fulfillment bullshit) but it can be both genuinely tense and moving. I wish Flip's arc and the film's thread about the shared struggle between Jews and black people had had a better conclusion, but I think Lee makes some powerful points regardless. It's a messy, messy film, but I will take Lee's messiness over the mannered leftist lecture that people might have wanted to hear.
