This was much more riveting as I had originally anticipated. It is difficult to watch as Eva navigates through life, remembering the past, recalling her bouts of doing her best to raise her challenging son, Kevin and revisiting her moments of weakness as a mother.
Painful flashbacks of struggle haunt Eva throughout and I find myself feeling deeply empathetic with the story. (As a single mother to a 6 year old boy who does suffer from mental health issues I have seemingly passed down to him, it feels like the world is against me sometimes, and that I`m not a good mother, despite me doing everything "right". ) Tilda Swinton captures a defeated, thwarted and extremely frustrated mother flawlessly. I think the deliverance of the ending was strong and I really enjoyed this one.
Ps Ezra Miller is a babe, even when he`s naughty haha
