so deeply intrinsically sweet with what its trying to do here: completely relishes when it shows a community becoming one and become new, it becomes completely lesser when lin miranda is anywhere near the picture (seriously he drains out any charisma a scene had immediately) and his presence reminds the film how hollywoodised this often feels. so many oddly footed moments so many payoffs which don’t feel deserved, yet the greater picture here is just heavy handed yet sincere with the people it is presenting. films which just deeply mean well are few and far between and i appreciate them as they come

    ★★★★

the ultimate cinema movie for those who hate what cinema has become and long for the edge projects to become among again, cult classics culminated to become a vivd campy piece of violent with ultimately good gritty intentions of what it has to say about film (and honestly how well it has aged)

theres nothing paul verhoeven cant do: so morally ambiguous within its own existence as a new take on the genre troupes which are normally regarded to be done to death yet verhoeven makes it feel so deeply fresh so deeply unique: and this is only surface level. beyond the surface this film is just so deeply bizarre as it plays out as a sexual thriller which is so subversive to what the genre normally lays out its so surprising to watch. the struggles where there are no winners: just suffering of humanity.

the effect of the after. the complete speechlessness of when the event had happened where you can’t quite move, you can’t quite feel, all which becomes of you is a rage of unflinching anger. that it happened. a completely angry yet surprisingly sensitive portrayal of the burden of trauma and what that can manifest into particularly when the entire society around your living being reminds you. the best parts of a grindhouse exploitation slasher to make an exhilarating deeply sad masterpiece of a film one which has the haunting themes of how trauma is so cohesive with the patriarchy and the society it comes under.

fun psychosexual flick very obvious convoluted and brash throughout to the extent where it ends up making the story somewhat surface level when examining the trauma and connection between the protagonists but for what it is and what it is attempting to be it does work on a very wow look at how wild this film is way.

so brash so direct but christ thats what makes this good a completely honest and terrifyingly sad (despite the somewhat ludicrous ending) of the american military and propaganda machine and the disease this machine embeds within you and the destruct those vulnerable to the machine have to cope with afterwards. to be tricked by the one thing you were meant to be able to trust, thats just heartbreaking.

i struggle with films like this. so to be completely blatantly honest i did leave the cinema with ten minutes left as i just cannot handle movies like this movies about autism not for autistic people. this is very clearly for neurotypical people and its (mainly) told by parents of autistic people not really by the actual people who can clearly communicate to us in whatever means they need to do it. most films about autism are never told by…

blended exploitative with guts and bones relentless filth its the feeling of getting food stuck in your teeth and you cant quite get it out, its the feeling of walking home and your entire body is wet and filthy from the weather, its the feeling of when you walk into a room and it stinks horrendously to the extent your eyes water and your head hurts. its all that times by ten and then some just a real vivid stench…

    Arizona Dream

    ★★★★

dreams woven into reality and static hyper-realism merged with lucrative ideals and hopes washed away within the accuracy of what is happening starkly fore-coming. a screwball comedy above the surface yet straggling and a dying need under the surface which goes far more than the broken home plot and questions the devil worth that film has to offer. life intimidates dreams, life repeats whats on film, dreams terrify life to its very core.

    Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard

    ★★★

classic dumb fun blockbuster, theres nothing fun about this but theres nothing really right about it filled with illogical profanity and a fuckton of sex. i kinda appreciate this for what it is a comfortable film with absolutely nothing interesting going on and as someone going through a film slump this helps me get going a bit. had a fucking awful cinema experience though which may have soured it slightly but any film which makes me laugh and has guns shooting is okay for me!
