Toshio Matsumoto is such a master of abstract filmmaking and one of his best talents is turning normal everyday things into jarring abstract images. Here is a great example of that ability. He messes with the structure of buildings like Picasso did to faces. It's simple and clear what he's doing but, like many other of his films, it becomes completely hypnotic and I found myself going in and out of recognizing what I was seeing. Art like this is severely underappreciated and Matsumoto is the master at it.
