A horror movie enthusiast
Nia DaCosta‘s Candyman offers a lot of interesting ideas, but unfortunately ends up barely delivering any.
It’s stylish and beautifully shot, with a lot of violence and effective shots, but that’s about it really. The movie tries to say snd do too much, and it ends up with a story that’s too jumbled and overly complicated. With dull characters. Even Candyman himself felt like an afterthought here. popping up here and there to kill off random characters. he’s hardly the imposing presence he was when Tony Todd Was playing him.
This has truly exceeded my expectations. It’s everything I wanted from a justice league movie and more. For a 4-hour film, it is paced beautifully & it’s thoroughly engaging. The visuals & music are phenomenal. Ray Fisher’s cyborg is the star of the movie, and his backstory was both emotional and powerful. Snyder managed to make every character in the movie shine.
It’s the best movie in the DCEU.
