TIFF19 #15 :
Jojo Rabbit is Taika Waitit's best film yet. Absolutely incredible with so much heart. One of the funniest movies this year. A kid living in Germany during WW2 whose idol is Adlof Hitler discovers his mother is hiding a Jew in their house. Roman Griffin Davis is revelation. This kid is fucking incredible. Thomasin McKenzie is a star. This is some of Scarlett Johansson's best work. It's a supporting role but the mother son relationship is the heart of the film. Taika Waititi is hilarious as Hitler. His writing is exceptional and every joke lands. This at times becomes heartbreaking. One of the films that made me cry at tiff. One of the best of the year.
