My very favourite sci-fi movie. I love it so much i’m vibrating and my bones hurt. Beautiful, eerie, intense and full of (artificial) life.

  • Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin

    Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin

This is so far removed from the Paranormal Activity universe I can’t believe it even shares the same name. It’s a massive failure as a found footage film and the ending disappoints but it slightly redeemed itself in aesthetic and concept. A letdown why potential.

    Last Night in Soho

A mixed bag but I had a lot of fun and appealed to me as a giallo lover, I had qualms but I can overlook them for something so inoffensive and cool

  • The Houses October Built

    The Houses October Built

Long buildup with mild promise and a horribly bland ending

  • Boys from County Hell

    Boys from County Hell

This was fun, sweet, funny, and had vampire lore I hadn’t come across before. I liked it a lot even if I didn’t love it.

  • Broadcast Signal Intrusion

    Broadcast Signal Intrusion

Something about the pacing and script made this feel like an (extremely hard to follow) fever dream. The twists, turns and discoveries never feel like much and this doesn’t even begin to lightly touch its conceptual potential. A big disappointment for something that starts so creepy with such an interesting neo-noir feel. Justice for the horror potential that Sal-E Sparks possesses.

  • Halloween Kills

    Halloween Kills

This felt like the standard middle film in a trilogy but much worse than usual and has one of the most awful scripts I’ve encountered in recent memory... i’ll still tune in for part 3 though (yes the kills are that good)

  • Old

The dialogue felt like a fever dream and i’m still really confused as to how the beach works but I had fun! The body horror stuff was... upsetting, the pacing was unrelenting which worked with the concept, I didn’t even loathe the ending, so I guess what i’m saying is that I liked it?

  • V/H/S/94

The best in the franchise by a county mile, give me more of these!

  • Lights Out

    Lights Out

I remember liking this on my first watch... unsure what I liked back then, cos I found very little to hold onto this time around.

  • Train to Busan

    Train to Busan

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I’m not really a zombie movie person but this was really well done, albeit very predictable: well acted (the little girl towards the end blew me away), effectively emotive, nicely shot, intensely paced etc. but i’ve got to say it’s a bold choice to kill off the best character halfway through. My attention kind of dipped after that because I wasn’t so invested in the others, though they grew on me by the end. I also found the antagonist to…

    The Void

2 stars for the practical effects ONLY, which deserved a better film to be featured in
