As press screenings begin, and the official start of this year’s New York Film Festival (NYFF) is only days away, Film at Lincoln Center has dropped a tantalizing sizzle reel with some of their most anticipated offerings.
The festival trailer shows off a number of the selections which will play at the festival between September 24—October 10, 2021.
The World Premiere of Joel Coen’s The Tragedy of Macbeth kicks off the 17-day run of 130 films from over 45 countries as the Opening Film. Other headliners are Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog as the Centerpiece screening, fresh off its second runner-up placement for the TIFF People’s Choice Award, and Pedro Almodóvar’s Parallel Mothers as the Closing Film.
Along with the jam-packed Main Slate lineup of modern gems like Titane and Memoria, the festival also makes room for its Currents, Spotlight, and Revivals sections. The latter of which features Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song, Hester Street, and Mississippi Masala, among others.
As Almodóvar says, in a quote featured at the beginning of the trailer, NYFF is “The best reason to visit New York and to see the best films of the year”.
Check out the trailer above, and see the full lineup for this year’s festival at Film at Lincoln Center’s Letterboxd HQ page.
Tickets are now on sale at Film at Lincoln Center’s website.
