If you want to watch 1.75 hours of dogs barking and Glenn Close evil laughing - then this movie is for you! It comes as no surprise that this live-action remake is worse than the animated version (shocker!). Obviously, the best thing about the film is Glenn Close as Cruella DeVille. She owns the role and is very convincing as the infamous fashion icon and puppy killer. Overall does not hold up. Thanks, Logan for making everyone watch this one. Won't be rewatching this again ever.
P.S. False advertising - it's only 17 dalmatians, not 101.

Ah man the nostalgia....
Glenn Close will always be the best Cruella De Vil. But I prefer cartoon version over this one.
THIS shit at an incredibly young age helped influence my “animals just fucking know” mentality and you know what it was RIGHT
Heavy nostalgia attached to this one. Quite refreshing to see highly trained animals rock the film instead of CGI. If there is something it holds objectively well it has to be it’s way of capturing snowy pastures and a festive cold. Or is it just me?
So here's what happened - Logan, in his infinite wisdom, told me this is this week's pick for film club on discord. Turns out it isn't and he got confused because he is running too many cults. Oh, that rascal.
No way am I rating anything with this many dogs - the most magnificent creatures in the world - lower than 3 stars. Close is good, but who cares, dogs are the most important part of this. They all should have been given Oscars and treats and hugs and kisses.
Lucky dealt with those criminals almost as well as Kevin McCallister and Charlie Kelly did.
The video game subplot was kinda dumb and I felt like there wasn't really a need for it either? Glenn Close as Cruella is amazing. I mean her evil laughter... iconic. Can't really imagine anyone doing that better than her. Love to hate her. Pongo & Perdita are cute, so are the puppies ofc, and I love how Britainish (Not sure if that's really a word, but it sounds more like what I mean, than British does 😂😂) this film is.
You see, I am so out of the loop with the animated & live-action that I genuinely thought the mom dog gave birth to 101 puppies 🤦🏽♀️
This was cute-ish. Really enjoyed the first half of the movie and then it felt like I was watching Home Alone. Glenn Close was terrifyingly incredible as Cruella DeVil.

if your villain is as despicable yet cartoonish as someone called CRUEL(la) DEVIL you cant criticise glenn close for overracting smh. she gave this the 110% it deserves. those dogs, however, barely gave 50

It's possible that my brain has been permanently destroyed by watching so much horrible Disney spinoff garbage for my podcast but I'm pretty sure this is a legitimately good movie?
(Also it's pure coincidence that I was scheduled to watch this today but RIP Anthony Powell, whose incredible costumes are responsible for at least half a star's worth of rating.)

If it wasn't for Glenn Close's performance of Cruella. I wouldn't have liked it. But, she killed it, the puppies were cute but just did not have the charm the classic did

Alright so this rating isn't to imply this is an incompetently made film or the story from John Hughes is horrendous, it's just I'm too old for this simplified whimsy.
Clearly disney made Hughes dumb down his writing a bit and Michael Kamen's whimsical score is always playing, and I can't even remember the last time I saw a story where the man and woman instantly marry on sight...like legit and this is from someone whose seen tons of direct to video animation films and terrible family comedies from the early 2000s.
